Premium Dried Apricot Grade A — Natural Chitrali Khumani

The Hunza and Chitral apricot is legendary across Pakistan — and for good reason. These sun-dried apricots (khubani) are from trees that cling to terraced hillsides at 2,500–3,500 m, where cool nights and intense mountain sun create a natural sugar concentration impossible to achieve at lower altitudes. Harvested in July and dried on rooftop mats in the open mountain air, they contain no added sugar or sulphur dioxide. Nutritional highlights (per 100 g dried): ~241 kcal · 3.4 g protein · 63 g carbohydrates · 7 g fibre · potassium (1160 mg) · iron (6.3 mg) · beta-carotene (3.6 mg, converts to vitamin A). One of the richest plant sources of potassium and iron in a dried fruit. Flavour profile: intensely sweet with a bright tartness and floral honey note. Far more complex than Turkish or Iranian commercial varieties. How to use: eat as a snack, simmer into a compote for yoghurt or ice cream, blend into a smoothie, steep in warm water for a traditional Chitrali drink, or use in slow-cooked lamb dishes for a sweet-savoury depth. Storage: store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to 9 months. Refrigeration recommended in summer.
